Semberija is the name of the flat agricultural region of the country, and the city of Bijeljina is its capital. When we say flat, it really is flat, geographically, but don’t be mistaken, there’s nothing flat and monotonous about Bijeljina. It’s a vibrant city, with the relics of the Austro-Hungarian era scattered around, left and right. The city streets, the City Hall, Hotel Drina, the city park, the old National Bank building… the list of these relics goes on. They all fit the description of authentic filming locations from the late 19th and early 20th century. Add to that the religious sites, the ethnographic villages, and the beautiful landscapes all around the city, and you have yourself a true treasure trove of sights and places to film.
